the download says 1.7.1 but it says theres an update then crashes for some myterious reason with no crash report. what i mean to say is...the site is outdated...whys that?

The download site isn't outdated that I can see. BUT I do know some Resis have probs using the auto-updater, and YES IT DOES CRASH ON THEM.  So best way is just to go to http://secondlife.com/download and manually install the newest version. That is all. _____________________

the current version according to LL in the anouncement forum is 1.7.1.3 and the one on the site is 1.7.1 which is why when i download the one on the site, it attempts an update and then explodes. -this is why i havent been on sl for a long while now _____________________

There are no viewer updates with this release. Source: /3/34/69156/1.html The version on that download site is 1.7.1.2 and altho it doesn't indicate that as such—and it should—it's the one that should work. If your thingy isn't working, you could completely uninstall whatever version of SL you have and then install this new one CLEAN FRESH SUPER. HOPE YOU CAN COME TO SL AGAIN _____________________
