Regarding the box-clothing. I've tried wearing it from the ground, but it appears as if it wasn't meant to be worn. It's clipping into the character, which doesn't seem normal. Does anyone know how to make it display properly?

Can you post a snapshot? I've not been here for too long, but I cannot say I know what 'box-clothing' is. Are you referring to something you bought that came in a box???

If so, you need to "unpack the box":
  1. Drag the box onto the ground from your inventory.
  2. Right click on it and choose edit.
  3. In the edit window, click on the Contents tab.
  4. You will see other items listed. Select them all and drag them into your inventory.
  5. Now right click on an item in your inventory and choose "Wear".
I think that may be what you are looking for. If not, please post a snapshot or be a little more specific about what you are trying to do.

Hope that helps,
Mad

As you can see, the skirt does not look proper on the character. It also is a "box" in the inventory. When I open it from the ground, it contains "Contents" which cannot be opened, nor does it have anything in it. Any help appreciated!

It looks like the prim skirt (box clothing) was made with someone shorter or with slimmer hips in mind. Not a problem though!

I would recommend:
1) Standing on a posing stand to hold your avatar still.
2) Right clicking and editing the skirt while you are wearing it.
3) Moving the skirt upwards toward the waist with the arrows.
4) Or holding down the CTRL and SHIFT keys to grab the grey box around the skirt and enlarge it.

Hmm, I can fix it so it sort of fits properly, however, when I do something such as sitting down, the skirt appears behind the character. Is there any way to fix this?

Unfortunately this is how things work in SL for the most part... Attachments tend to follow the things they are attached too... And "box clothing" as you call it is an attachment... It's a primative of the game (Or several linked together) that has been fashioned to resemble an article of clothing (usually something that is impossible to make with the Clothing Sliders). I don't know of any status in which things of this nature can be fixed but I say check out the SecondLife Wiki (www.secondlife.com/wiki) and try and design something yourself that will work... Good luck... And don't ever give up...

Prim clothes suck like that... try to stick to real clothes parts.
