Hi, Only just installed SL on my machine after being refered from my m8. Just wondering if you guys could help me.
Basically i run XP 64 on my Comp Specs below:
AMD Athlon 64, 1833 MHz 3000+ 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM) ATI Radeon 9800 XT (256MB)
I play games like HL2/Doom3 stuff like that all the time and it handles everything well. When i play SL it seems to be abit laggy, and was wondering if its comp or connection, or if its a bit laggy for everyone.
When SL is open and i go to my task manager and check my cpu usage its always at a constant 100% usage. is this normal for this game as all my other stuff use about 45-60%.
Thanx just an Enquiry as it might be XP64 problem if so will just cope.

SL will be 100% cpu pretty much all the time , dont mind it just how SL handle it. Fps wise you wont get near what you get in a fps game, a sim in SL can be several gig of texture -.- and latly we been getting "cardboard" version of SL, its slow to rez for anyone. 1 thing you shouldnt enable unless you want looow fps > Local Lightning

You know... The reasons why you should be using a 64 OS, is for using over 32GB of RAM. Else it's really just a waste and causes more issues.

Unless you run games/programs that were written in 64 bit you will see no benefits at all, in fact since SL is 32 bit windows will emulate it since its native code is 64 bit. It’s a downgrade to run Windows 64 bit edition and play 32 bit games.

They are notoriously unreliable with SL. I had to stop using mine for that reason. Be sure to turn off AA and AF filtering, it may slow down the crashing (if it is the cause that is, some cards work fine, many don't)

I run SL on x64, no problems what so ever. But then again my rig is not the norm, since I like to stay near bleeding edge tech.
