PC upgrade and still crashing out

I wonder if anyone can advise.

I upgraded my RAM to 1gb and my graphics card from ATI Radeon 9200 to NVIDIA Geforce 6200 on my PC (not got full specs at hand, but can provide if needed) but I'm still suffering occasional crashing out of SL, particularly when spinning around or using camera.

I've tried turning off ripple, local lighting and shadows to no avail

To make matters worse, my old laptop with a generic, unsupported graphics card appears to be a lot more stable.

I am contemplating swapping the 6200 for a 6600GT overclocked, but don't want the extra expense if this isn't going to improve performance.

Any ideas?
TIA

1st, try uninstalling and reinstalling SL. Maybe a fresh install will fix things.

2nd, don't buy a pre-overclocked card. The extra 25mhz isn't worth the cash, besides those suckers run hot as it is on stock cooling. I dunno what it is with people who go after pre-overclocked cards. They're never gonna be more then 25mhz faster then their stock OEM counterparts wich I can get with 15 seconds worth of tuning with the drivers and the stock cooling. Hell I can get faster on stock cooling safely. Ok I'm done with my rant, head my advise and save the 10 - 25 bucks for a better cooling system for your video card if you want to overclock.

I'll give the reinstall a go when I get home Ron thanks, and I only mentioned that overclocked card as I remember seeing it in the store the other day. Thanks for the advice though.

Well, the 6200 is not a great card for games (according to the specs) and haven't heard how well it works with SL. Make sure you have used a Drive Cleaner to completely remove all traces of those pesky ATI drivers. You would get significant improvement with the 6600 over the 6200 but you have to use manual settings to get the full benefit.

Please go ahead and list all the specs you have! A fast graphics card will not effectively do much for you with SL unless the rest of your system can keep up. SL is more like a 3D modeller than a game in this regard, so fast CPU is very important!

Guys, thanks for all your help. I've managed to fix the problem and thought it best to post the follow-up for others in the same boat.

Specs are as follows: P4, 3.04GHz, 1Gb RAM.

After upgrading to 6600GT I still had exactly the same problem, crashing out randomly everr 4-5 mins. I upgraded graphics card driver to opengl 2.0 but no change, then discovered my RAM was faulty. Swapped it and all is now well.

Thanks again.
