Selling Real Products inside Second Life

Hello All,

We are a Second Life development company and we have been requested by a e-commerce client to set up a shop inside Second Life that gives residents the option to buy objects inside Second Life and then get it delivered to their homes in real life.

Some implications are payment guarantee issues and the fact if Second Life can connect with the client's databse/internet site.

Can anyone clarify this a bit for me?

but seriously, if ur a sl development company and don`t know this, either skip the job or look in the jobs forum for expirienced scripters to assist

but no, as the other post abouve, ppl have to login to their paypal accounts to make the transaction trough their ssl webpages

giving it some more though, u could make an sl catalog wich communicates with an webserver shopping card and when done shopping, redirect them to the paypal website

No, I would not pay a vendor in linden dollars (they are purchased with real dollars afterall) because there is absolutely noe guarantee I would get anything at all as a purchaser.

Again, I have no idea. You would have to talk to Linden Labs......again. My guess is that with the present platform LL has in place it is unsolvable. And with LL's record of responding to such problems, I would wish you "good luck" in finding the answer.

You build a little store, you put a prim in it that says "Click here to go to our website" and load up the regular website.

I doubt people would pay with L$ for RL deliverable good since there is absolutely no dispute resolution if something goes wrong, plus everything would be at least 3.5% more expensive (the LindeX selling fee) than buying it off SL.

There's also the question of how many people are willing to link their RL details to their SL name through a third party.

In addition to the above, there isn't really any - secure - way to collect data such as name and shipping address in SL. It can all just be snooped on by a script.

So in the end you'd just use a normal website and SL doesn't really come into it at all.

The questions here is that an avatar should already have a paypal account combined with the second life avatar registration.

If he/she buys a product (that will be delivered in real life) then he/she would have to choose between paying with linden dollars or via paypal. The payment process will stay the same, click "buy" and it will be placed in the inventory. However, there should be some function saying you use paypal instead of linden dollars.

Question is, is this possible? Second Life we called but they cannot help us, theys ay its up to the residents.

Just speaking for myself, I have absolutley NO interest in RL shopping in SL. But I'm sure a lot of people would, so best of luck.
