Ive had this problem for a while.. but just havent got to asking about it, so here it goes.

I have this little problem wiht the downloader...ever since a certain update(like 1.6 maybe? i think i might be way off) my downloader, well, wouldnt download the updates, and i would have to manually download the installer to play the game. I mean, whats the deal? Any response on how to fix this would be helpful.

Sorry, no solution, but I have the same problem. I have gotten used to simply downloading the client without thinking twice, but it USED to work!

Yeah it's been messed up for me ever since the end versions of 1.5.xx... haven't gotten it to work again no matter what, I've cleared out my temp files as recommended, killed my cache, all that, uninstalled, tried to update cleanly... ack.

I just end up downloading from http://secondlife.com/download in any case.

In most cases we see of this, there's an antivirus or internet security program that's blocking the installer from changing our executable.

I know we're looking to see if the autoupdater can be changed to not set these other programs off so much.

Will agree with lee here, im using mcaffee 2005 and although my installer works, everytime it does want and update the firewall aks to run a temporary program with a long line of digits/letters. and i have to grant this program access, if you have your program on tighter control then maybe its not giving you this option and auto blocking this
