Since the upgrade I have been having serious freeze up issues and constant disconnects in sl. It is not consistant. I can be simply chatting or I can be building or I can be multi tasking.

Here is what happens: I am typing away and hit enter and no text comes up. At first I figure lag spike so I keep typing. But eventually it dawns on me so I send an IM. IM goes but no one ever get's it. Then I decide to try and move and I cannot. My av is stuck in place and I can only turn in circles. All this time I hear the streaming music, I hear the other back ground land sounds. What happens next varies on my patience. I either click X and relog or I wait and I hear a CLICK sort of noice, the screen goes black n white and I get the message I have been logged out of sl (just like if a sim has gone down) I have attempted to log into different sims so is not a sim issue.

It surely cannot be my computer. I have a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra with drivers up to date. I have a brand new ASUS A7V880 Motherbrd which I have updated all drivers on. I have a 2 megabit adsl connection. I have 1 gb dual channel memory. I have a clean system and yes I do have a fair security and regular scans so no I do not have a virus. I do not have any firewall interference. I have not changed anything with my computer except my new Motherbrd in the past year I have been in sl except to keep it driver and XP updated.

My sl bandwidth is set at 300 that should be well and good for my computer and disk cache size is 1000

My graphics has no bells and whistles clicked in the Performance options
I only run at 800X600

Soooo what can be done is the question. It is annoying to be a land owner pay a good sum and not be able to stay logged in. Sometimes I am kicked out every 3 minutes sometimes I can stay for hours. My adsl is not disconnecting or dropping as I keep other web based application running with no ill effect. I even went over to test running active worlds while running sl and still get dropped from sl but not active worlds. So again I reiterate: what is linden labs suggestion? I want this solved please. Root cause and analyis. post it so others with this problem can see (yes I have seen other posts describing the very same issue). It cannot be that all of us have connection drops especially since it is begun after the last upgrade.

Any suggestions or helpful routes would be most appreciated. I have tried much already.

knd rgds,

Rav,

I'm offering this up just as a starting point for troubleshooting...

From the description of your symptoms, it sounds to me like its a Network-type issue, and you're getting disconnected.

To troubleshoot further - press CTRL-SHIFT-1 to open up the statistics window. Keep an eye on the following parameters:

-Your Current Bandwidth (If its 0, you're disconnected)
-Your Packet Loss (Should be 0.0%)
-Ping User/Ping Sim (Lower the better)

Most importantly, when you 'crash' like you've been describing - take a look at that stats bar. My hunch is, your bandwidth is dropping to 0, and you're getting disconnected. Why this is happening, will likely take some more troubleshooting.

For a period of time, I had some issues with my DSL connection, that was causing me to drop randomly. I expereinced the same exact symptoms you did, and could literally watch my bandwidth drop to 0 every time it happened.

It turned out that my house is a bit far from the Telecom Central Office, and my ISP had my DSL connection turned up higher than the line could handle. They dropped it down a notch, and its been smooth ever since.

Hope this helps! :)

Edit: Just looked at your logfile again, and noticed that you appear to be running SL on a Laptop. Are you using a Wireless connection, by chance? If so, it could be that your wireless connection is dropping intermittently? That would also cause this behavior.
