I'm trying to upload a sound clip and it keeps telling me it must be a PCM WAVE audio file and it is so why won't it let me upload it?

It has to be a 44.1 kHz, 16 bit wave file. (.wav)

Can't think why it /must/ be 44.1 but it does.

Heya, i used - Audio Editor [ http://www.vnunet.com/downloads/1135554 ]

It can convert just about everything easy.
Just ignore the doo'daa's , file - convert to :

wav,mp2,mp3,vox,wma,raw,cda,ogg. is supported.

you can use : 44.1 kHz, has to be stereo , 8/16 bit wav in SL.

*.* i know i had a freeware version somewhere but i forgot the name of it.

I have found GoldWave to be a useful tool for this sort of task. But there are many such programs out there.

If you don't need heavy modifing of the sound file..

then just use the microsoft sound recorder (built into windows) and when you do a save as, a change button is at the bottom, just choose CD Quality from the dropdown menu and save it...done..

I wholeheartedly recommend a freeware gem called r8brain -- a specialized program with odd name, but VERY easy to use and superior quality results. I used to use it in my former life as a musician and it has a batch mode for automatic conversion of many files, should you need to do this.

More information about r8brain can be found here:

Give it a try and see how it works for you. Happy audio'ing, Gina! :)

I believe, more specifically, that it's 44.1kHz, 16-bit, Mono, and LESS than 10.0 seconds. (As in 9.99 works, but 10.0 does not.)

Quicktime Pro also has all the features you need to take any clip and configure to SL clip requirements.

Good luck.... ;-)
