Downloaded and installed Green Emerald (due to hearing and reading nice things)

Install went well and picked the fine tuned version and the add on pack to give voice and even faster speed.

All looked great (took a while for things to render at 1st but assume it's building up it;s cache)

Just a bit dissapointed in it's speed.

Whilst (in the real world) I've not yet noticed a speed difference, with a small text I do, there does seem quite a bit.

I have 2 things I do.

1: I look out at sea (I can still see a flag waving near the bottom of my view) and the Official viewer gives around 60 fps whilst Emerald gives 43 fps

2: I stand on the spot and rotate again and again and again. Some of it looking inland, other out at sea.
Officiel viewer, varies from around 27 to 55 fps, Emerald gives 22 to 36 fps.

I'm pretty sure I've set it all up the same, 4x anti aliasing, etc etc...........

Anyone got any thoughts, as though I like a few of the extra features, don't really want to live with such a large fps drop in speed.

Make sure it's using the KDU JPEG decoder instead of the OpenJPEG. Look at About Second Life under the help menu and find J2C Decover Version. It should say KDU. I think the add-on pack should install this. If it doesn't, copy the file llkdu.dll from your original SL folder to the Greenlife program folder.

Also, turn on "Run Multiple Threads", under the Advanced menu in the Rendering section. CTRL-ALT-D activates the Advanced menu if you don't see it.

Thanks for the reply.

I checked what you mentioned and I am running the KDU version.

I also enabled Run Multiple Threads, whch admittedly, I'd forgotton about.

It has improved things.

The circling on the spot has gone from 22-36 fps up to 25-48 fps (still not as good as the official release versions 27-55 fps) but getting there.

And the "looking out (mostly) to sea" test has gone from 43 up to 52 fps (again, not as good as the official 60fps)

I'm watching the statistics figures all the time and writing down the peaks here (as they are fluctuating all the time of course.)

It SEEMS smooth enough, (well no more jerky than normal) so will do a bit more testing.

But anyting else you can suggest Cache sizes etc) I'm be happy to know.

I've set the network speed to max as I'm on a 20mbit cable line.

Yes, I did look.

Very VERY slow (for me to access) I mean click on a link and wait and wait and wait slow.

Also loads and loads of postings but almost dead when it comes to the replies :(

Perhaps I just caught it at a bad day?
