I have trouble keeping SL up for more than a few minutes at a time, unless I remain still and don't pan the camera around. I've found I can lessen this by reducing my video settings and draw distance to ridiculously low levels, but nothing completely stops it.
I'm running an Athlon 3200+, WinXP, and a Radeon X850 pro video card, if any of that helps.

sounds like a hardware issue, I would have to say check graphics card drivers, make sure they are the latest, check if the card is supported by SL too, sometimes just the hardware is too messed up for SL
