I realise that for the game to function properly I need a better graphics card than my Intel(R) 82810E, but with the Sims 2 (also needed the card) I could modify the game by putting it in a windowed frame and it would then work properly. My question is: Is it possible to do the same thing to Second Life? Is there any way to get it to work even if the good graphics are forfeit?

Might be a silly suggestion but have you gone into your settings and tried setting your graphics to 32bit? Right click on your desktop, select Properties>Settings and set you Color Quality to 32bit. If your computer won't let you go that high then I seriously doubt you can get SL to work. A few Intel chips can be gotten to work but the vast majority can't so don't get your hopes up too high.

Most games aren't using the OpenGL rendering standard. As such, being able to run virtually any other game (including Sims, Half-Life2, and many other "pretty" games) does not confirm that your computer should be able to run Second Life.
If you don't have a GeForce or Radeon card, it's overwhelmingly likely Second Life simply won't run. If it does, we can't promise some future update won't "break" and fail to load on your unsupported hardware.

I just got a computer with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (82915G) and I can get into SL fine, but some of the graphics look a bit washed out mostly the ground and sky. Objects and people look fine, unless I try to turn up the graphic settings too high. Here are the rest of my computer specifications: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz, 200 GB hard drive, 512 DDR Dual-Channel memory (Expandable to 4 GB). P.S. I don't have to worry about being messed up by a future update because my computer has a PCI-Express x16 slot available, which I should be able to get in a few weeks. P.S.S. I was able to get the ground to work better, because before I didn't put the Terrain Detail to Full. I also added another 512 MB to the computer which helped a good deal. The sky looks better in the 1.7 preview though.

Well, to clarify: If you're not running a "supported" card, it's likely some things won't be 100% right. The supported cards are the ones where things *should* be behaving.
Other residents may have better ideas, but there aren't many suggestions I can make for Intel graphics.
