Hiya's,
anyone had any problems with sending outbound mail to servers outside LL today? I can't seem to get any mail through, I tried sending to 3 different SMTP servers with no luck...
Maybe has something to do with the planned mail system changes?

Hmm... ok.. actually mail seems to be delayed for about 30 - 40 minutes... who's playing with the queue again? Huh? I know you're there

Yes, sadly, I am still here.
We're currently having some issues with email to @aol.com addresses. This has gummed up the queue rather spectacularly.
This would, of course, happen before any of the fixes get rolled out, so... yeah.
I've tweaked some settings on the (overworked, underpowered, I'm trying to replace it honest I swear) mail server to try and speed things up, but there's a pretty big queue it's got to chew through. Outbound mail is going to be delayed for a while.

You didn't forsee this when llEmail became the only way to turn on RPC calls?

Obviously, we underprovisioned our mail capacity a bit. Although, frankly, llEmail() isn't really the cause of the load at all; it's just affected by it. Most of the load is due to IM -> email traffic of various kinds, usually to email accounts that are broken in some way.
But, as I said, I'm working on it, and outbound email will get much better soon.

Yay glad you're working on this Mark ... 50% of my products I sell just become a useless pile of prims when email stops working, and blaming it on Lindens every time is such a cliche already =) Keeping my fingers crossed...
