I have a jukebox that I got for freebie and got me to wondering. When I'm exploring or lounging in an area I don't own the land but can create objects.. can I mute the default land audio/video and use my own music instead? Or chose which stream I want to be active/listening?

for streaming media you have to be the land owner (or an object owned by the land owner) to do anything

if the owner has a radio out and you are given control access then you could

crap, that sucks! :-(
definitely would be a nice thing to have (personal music) instead of running a seperate program eating my resources. So I assume I wouldn't be able to mute it either without knowing where the radio is located?

sorry, maybe this is being stupid, but why don't you turn off the streaming music using the button on the lower left of your screen then use your cd player or shoutcast in your computer, or better yet a sterio in RL.

I have an ipod but I'm not sticking buds in my ears while in sl and I don't have dough to buy a good pair of speakers for it. As for media player, shoutcast, etc.. Two things; 1) sl is hard enough on my laptop. 2) I'm staying at someone's house on that land. We'd like to have streaming music anytime we want [a) the land is group owned so we though we'd be able to [obviously not] b) the owner rarely is online in sl)

not much else you can do then, i have a friend who streams music through his mic on voice, sounds bloody horrable tho. and i'm pretty sure there are items you can buy that will play songs using looped sounds. but i'v not tryed one. i would think they would probably cut in and out a bit.

you could plug in your ipod in through the mic port, i wouldn't think one of those types of cables would cost much

sorry just making suggestions

Get the landowner to install a radio switcher and give all the relevant people access to use it. This would then let you switch the radio stream any time you like.

lol, just one. but me and enya talked about it and we're gonna ask the land operator to see if they can help setting it up.
I really appreciate the response though and no worries.
