When i logged into my outlook this evening it started downloading over 250000 emails from second life... and im not exagrating.
Here is what they said:
The object 'Second Life' has sent you a message from Second Life:
Your object '' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder from parcel 'Protected Land' at Tersa 0, 0.
Is anyone else getting Email Bommed from SL?

A lot of builds in SL have been being returned.. They are doing a rollback.. But thats what the emails will be from..

Actually the same thing happened to me a week ago. Our sim was reset and immediatly I started getting emails at work, of course thinking all my objects were being returned to me. Instead I log on at home to see I had over 3000 *New Objects* (just empty boxes) in my lost and found folder.
I called tech support who assured me it wasn't anything Linden created and they went into my account to investigate. Possibly it was an early attack of what went down last night, I don't know. I have now turned off my email notifications because of the fear it may happen again. Of course my IM's were capped as well as needing to sit and delete all the *New Objects* from my Lost and Found Folder. I can imagine the strain on Linden Lab servers if many people were hit with this. I know my emails were slowing down our company server and now I will not allow email notification because of this. This type of attack reaches farther then SL when email is involved and I hope they plan on taking legal action against the morons who caused it. |
