OKay I'm still getting the ribbons of texture although not as badly as it was from the previous veiwer. With the prevous viewer I could nto stay logged on more then a couple of minutes or be around any textures etc. With the new viewer I dont often crash but when I do its just after I get all those ribons of texture flying all over the place. Also now there is what seems to be a memory error (big long number I keep forgetting to look at the details of) this is also happening even if the client runs I can close it down and there will be this error showing up. Its an address in the computer I'm assuming that I need a new video card (this one is less then a year old but I"m thinking its done gotten broken..)

yep, sounds like a vid card problem. I've seen similar effects when overclocking a working card, which causes bit errors due to voltage tunneling or voltages hovering around the bit switching threshold. All of which can happen if your video card is faulty. You might check to make sure that the fan on the video card is spinning (if it has a fan) and that the video card is seated well in the slot.

thanks

yeah the fan is fine and such okay was just kind of umm confirming this before i go buy another one and tear out the old one. All the drivers etc are up to date and I even cleaned the computer when i checked the card (i think its worse now and the dust was holding it together hehe)

Ah well I wanted a new fangled one of those Nvidia 8000 series cards anyhow ...

One useful trick us 'olde timers' used, take out your cards and rub gently the connection tabs with a 'rubber/eraser' and then slot them back in. The connections deal with static, voltages, heat and become oxidised, using a rubber, can remove this.... don't.. use anything abrasive...
