When I move the camera , my client stutters badly

I've had past problems of this, and eventually SL client would just crash out and my PC would restart. But I've got the new client and I had yet to crash out. But still, performance is still stuttery when I move the camera. However, keeping the camera static is fine for the most part.

Why would it stutter about like this? It's been like this for 6 months or so now. I've updated drivers and such, messed about with video configs and nothing.

Anyone?

Also while I'm here, sometimes my audio in world is crackly and, my top menu buttons 'File, Edit, View, world, Tools, Heelp' are distored / broken up. This has also been a long running problem.

amd 4200 dual core
3200 2gb ram
ATi radeon x800xl agp 256mb
600w psu

For the most part, that sort of issue is more drive related. When you move the camera, the client has to read and update the cache file quickly - slow disk perforance makes the client stutter, and then crash because it can not keep up with the demands of the client for data.

Defrag your hard drive
Set your Antivirus to ignore the cache directory
If possible, upgrade your hard drive to a newer one, with a 8 meg cache on the drive.

You will be amazed at the performance increase.

I've gone through about 3 of the latest ATI drivers , thats how long i've been having video problems.


But I did kind of sort it. I set my video texture memory to 512 and it's quite nice now, but not as jolty and horrid.

Also with my crackling sounds. I've found when i'm doing something else on the PC and SL is in the background , the audio is fine! It's whenever I click back on it it crackles up, strange no?

edit: well then again i didnt. It's still stuttery, the only safe place is to look at the floor after a a while of being ingame. blooming thing
