Please!
Can someone in easy words and not so much technical words (dont go to deep into it) - tell me how to get the absolute best out of SL and Preffs.
I know it must be diff at diff comps but some standard things must be for al of us?
I know about 128 or 256 - but then i am mostly lost....

it depends on your video card, but I recommend turning on shiny objects, and no other options next to it. Turn your view distance to about 80 meters, your fog distance to 2.0, and your detail sliders to half way. If that's fast enough, turn up the detail sliders a little at a time to see how that works. if you get them all the way up, then start turning up your view distance a little at time. Your performance will also change drastically depending on the places you frequent. Lots of avatars will slow down most computers. Lots of buildings will also cause slow down. The two combined will bring good computers low , and make great computers work.

do you mean attachments? well the more prims in your view the harder it is. if someone has 600 prims attached to their avatar and their the only person you see, you're vid card will probably stutter when you first look at them. If several someones are that way, your framerate will probably drop a lot. the most a single object can be is 255 or 254 prims I believe. some hair gets pretty prim heavy. you can get nice hair that's not more than 40 orims though, which should be fine. All told I think most people who pay attention to clothes end up wearing about 200 prims. in large groups that makes things tough, but in small ones it's not a problem
