Edit Appearance = game crashes!?

I just downloaded SL for the first time and no matter what I do, it seems that if I try to change my avatar's appearance, the game shuts down. At first merely dragging clothes onto my avatar from the inventory or going to Edit Appearance caused a crash -- I tried closing the notecard that was open and then I was able to get Edit Appearance to stay open until I made an actual change (changed my height on the slide toggle), and then SL immediately crashed again. It's kind of unusuable like this... can anyone help?

What kind of graphics card are you using? When I log in from work with my Intel (anything but) Extreme vid card, editing my appearance makes my character go berzerk with ever-changing colours and textures. It does not crash, but it does some wild things. Also, have you tried re-installing SL (yeah, I know it's a fresh install)?

Looks like it was my own fault; I just needed to update my graphics drivers and now it's working perfectly. Thanks for the reply and sorry for wasting everyone's time ~_~
