Screen gets bright

I have a problem whenever I start up SL and wonder if anyone else is going through the same thing.

Whenever I start up SL to get to the log on screen my monitor gets very light, like the brightness setting has been adjusted. To correct this I just go into my display settings and without making any changes my screen goes back to normal then I cancel to close the settings window. This is the only program that it happens to.

I have an Intel 2.4G, 768MB RAM, with an ATI 9000 video with 64MB RAM (driver update in Dec 2004) running on WINXP.

All was well up until a few upgrades ago, not sure which one screwed me up.

Any ideas? I sent the Lindens a report, they got back to me wanting to know my system specs but haven't heard anything back since then and it has been close to one month.

Hmmmmm Ploy, I am not certain but it sounds like possibly, there is some sort of ATI control panel parameter overriding your SL settings, so you would have to dig in there... OR... have you gone into SL Preferences, Display tab, and looked at your Gamma setting?
