I´ve sent out a support request because my SL crashes very often about 3 weeks ago. I got back an answer soon which was:
Greetings,
Thank you for your inquiry. In order to diagnose the problem, I will need to look at the log file generated by Second Life during its inital startup phase. The file is labeled Secondlife.log and is usually located in the C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name) \Application Data\SecondLife\logs folder on your hard drive. If it does not appear in that directory, you will need to turn on hidden file types. To do so, please select the "Tools" option at the top of your open folder, then select "Folder Options." Next, click the "View" tab and select "Show Hidden Files."
For Mac users your logfile is labeled Secondlife.log and is usually located in: Library->Application Support->Second Life
Please respond to this issue by attaching the file so I can more closely examine the problem.
Many thanks for your patience, and best wishes,
Linden Lab
I´ve sent the file, but no answer till now. Yesterday I´ve sent an request again. Same answer, sent the file...no answer back....
I realy like SL but I´m not able to stay in for a while (crashes aver 5 minutes...) Anyone can help me here? lg Tina

Try updating your video card driver to the latest ones.

I`m using the Omega drivers for my graphic card 3.8.291 (I guess its the latest) and still SL crashes. Sometimes it frezzes and then my monitor goes black (like it is in standby mode) and I have to make a reset to make my pc running again. Sometimes SL just shut down and sends the crash logger.... I hope someone can help me with my problems. lg Tina

Try the drivers off ati's site instead of omega drivers.

Does the computer do this in any other games?

Now I´m using he Radeon drivers. Version 8.31.0.0 from 11. October 2006 Is that the latest driver for my graphic card? Still the same Problem.
SL is the only game I´m playing so I don´t know if it will happen also in other games.

My ATI card does the same thing and only with this game. Runs real smooth but crashes often. Sometimes I go for days without a crash and some days it crashes what seems like every five minutes. Of course all drivers are updated. I just think SL doesn't like ATI.

No reply till today from the support... I think they don't care. I´m about to sell my land and cancel my account, cause I pay for something I´m not able to use allthough I realy would like to I only can be in SL for about two or three minutes, than it crashes... lg Tina
