Okay, I'm a neophyte here describing my problem, but this is it in a nutshell.
This PC has a 9700 ATI pro video card. Yes, I have the latest Catalyst drivers; and yes I've successfully changed my settings on the driver so that I've had basically no corruption in SL since the end of Beta. I'm one of the lucky ATI people.
I'm a pixel pimp so to speak, I love working with textures; but today, while building, I found that as I turned the AV, my system would crash (XP) -- and this very serious-looking blue window would appear telling me that this was a serious fault, dealing with the videoport.sys, see if I've installed any new hardware (I haven't), etc.
This has happened twice while running SL, no other programs were open.
I guess my question is: could I have a corrupt file in my SL software that's causing this crash and error message? The only display I changed was to show "local lighting" while (don't laugh) building with light objects during the night sequence in SL. (Okay, please stop laughing, because I can't, that sounds so silly, but that WAS what I was doing during the crashes.)
Does display local lighting affect the ATI drivers/SL software that badly?
