Well, It's not my problem but a friend of mine has been having some problems with the skins he's using. For some reason they've been all black except one, It started after I sent him some clothes which work perfectly for me and a few of my friends as well. I have no clue how it could have caused a problem but it did.

My friend is really upset and I was hoping someone would be able to help him out.

I've been applying this to solve some skin and clothes issues, found here.
If you don't have the Advanced option in your top toolbar do Ctrl+Alt and D

advanced menu> rendering>features>and uncheck palletized textures.

Then do rebake textures in character and appearance and see if that helps?

The only problem is you have to redo uncheck palletized textures, every time you relogin.

Some it helps, some it helps for 10 mins, do rebake and see if it sticks.

I been using it for the albino eyelashes, http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6784
and some clothes. Some one else here, suggested it for clothes here on the forums and hey it fixes my eyelashes too!

this happened to me today, my pants vanished and my face turned brown - and it did the same thing if i tried to create a new skin - even creating a beard, i was very angry and upset cause SL had deleted my skin shape before, and it was looking like i couldn't even make a new one now, tried several other avis and the same thing kept happening, face would change colors and my clothes textures would completely vanish.

After finding this post, tried turning off the palletized textures, and things fixed - i hope this DOES get fixed cause having to turn that off each time log in - well have to remember that, saved me alot of stress and i would been upset all night cause of this

Thanks so much for this. I've been having problems with very long-used clothing suddenly bleeding onto my skin. Fixed it immediately! Clearly some kind of bug. Thanks for the workaround.
