** WARNING! INCOMING RANT! **
How come Second Life doesn't work for so many people when there are far more complex MMOG's out on the market that work fine? Let's face it, apart from all the guff that LL give us about how amazing SL is, it's really not that complicated compared to many other online games I've played. (there are other MMOG's that use scripted objects btw)
How come they work perfectly and SL has given me nothing but stress?
I'm getting really irritated about the fact I can't stay online for more than a minute now (it was 20 minutes if I was lucky), without the client crashing. It's been like it for weeks and I'm no closer now to fixing it than I was when it started. I'm not the only one with the problem either, there have been many posts recently, unfortuately many were from new players who now think SL is a piece of badly coded rubbish and won't ever play it again.
I'm paying a monthly subscription fee!
monthly subscription = LL's wages
Last I heard from LL tech support is that my issue has been sent to QA... and I'm still waiting to hear from them.
I don't mean to sound like a bitter/moaning ass... but I absolutely NEEED to get online and finish building a project with a group... as I'm the only builder/scripter!...
It's so amazingly, and unbelievably important that I log in, and stay logged in, I can't think of an adequate word that conveys it!
Our project can't open until it's finished, and at this rate (of crash, login, crash, login), it's going to take months!....
I don't like paying for products that don't work, and neither does my Lawyer. This isn't funny anymore.
edit -- Kona Linden is a legend. He hung around while I crashed and logged in many... many times, offering some great advice. Shame we couldn't figure out the problem, but I'll keep trying.
