I have the same issue on both of my computers. i click on my icon to get to SL and then i get an error box that says "SL has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any incovinces this may cause you" I have uninstalled & reinstalled the game about 4 times. I have cleaned out my registry. i have wiped my hard drive and reinstalled game same thing. I have ever once had a problem with any of the updates until this recent one of 1.10.34.
However little tip...i have found a way around it so that i can still play the game. i dont close the error box, the login screen will come up and i can connect into game still. Just dont close the box or poof you out of game again. I truly hope this upcoming update fixes these issues. |

Problem:
When I started Second Life, the crash logger came up briefly, then it disappeared. Second Life never loaded. What do I do? Answer: Some bad cache files might be causing the crash logger itself to crash. It's best to clear out the cache files, uninstall Second Life, and reinstall. http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=TechDeleteCacheAndReinstall |

Hello Lee Linden nice to see someone trying to help out. But as i stated in my previous post i have Unistalled Second Life & Reinstalled it i believe 4 times and that did not help. i have cleaned my regesitry and even tryed a hard drive wipe Reinstalling everything. And i still get the error box that says "SL has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvices this may cause you" I did not get this problem until the 1.10.34 update....now i cant get rid of it. only found a way around it. And if i wait a minute with the crash box up the Second Life will load up for me. I just can not close the crash logger box cuz then i am kicked out of Second Life.

Unique: what drivers have you tried? The last log I have for you reports your graphics card as a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE-=[DHzer0point}=-; all that stuff at the end suggests that you're not currently using official drivers.

Thanks again Lee for helping. Well when i right click on my desktop and go to properties then apperances and advance settings it show that my driver verison is 84.25 which until yesterday was the most current driver Nvidia had. I dont see the -=[DHzer0point}=-; at the end of my detail for what type of graphics card i have. However i am going to install the new beta driver of 91.31 from Nvidia and see if that helps. I will post again if that helps.

ok Lee I updated my driver to the newest version released June 5th 91.31 but still no luck i still have that crash box. I sent another error report as well. Also i switch graphics card about 2 days ago. I was using Nivida GeForce FX 5200LE Ultra driver verisons used on that one was 84.43/84.25/84.20/81.87.However that was my normal graphics card and i have used that the whole time i have been playing Second Life. It didnt not have this problem until your current update on May 31st 1.10.1 . And that is when the crash box issue started. I switched graphics card to my current one of Nvidia Geforce Fx 5700LE about two days ago hoping that would fix this issue. Any other suggestions or ideas that may help me out?

Let's just make sure, with all of this reinstalling, that we don't have something corrupted somewhere.
Update the drivers with these steps: 1) First, turn off your antivirus temporarily! This is very important. Antivirus protects important system files; installing graphics drivers overwrites important system files. Leaving antivirus enabled while updating drivers may result in driver corruption. 2) Next, go to the Windows Control Panel, open the Add/Remove Programs utility. If there's an entry for "ATI Display Drivers" or "nVidia Display Drivers", uninstall it. 3) You will likely have to reboot your computer. Make sure antivirus is still disabled when you return to Windows. 4) Visit the website for your graphics card manufacturer (ATI or nVidia), and download and install the latest Display Driver release. 5) Once your computer has installed the drivers and rebooted, you can turn antivirus back on, and make any display adjustments (such as increasing resolution) Then reinstall SL with these steps: 1) Open c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Local Settings and delete the contents of your Temp folder. 2) Open c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Application Data\Second Life and delete the contents of the Cache folder. 3) Uninstall Second Life using the Add/Remove Programs tool in your Windows Control Panel. 4) Visit http://secondlife.com/download and download and install the latest release. NOTE: If you cannot see the files or folders, go to the Tools menu, choose Options, go to the View tab, and select Show Hidden Files and Folders. Then click OK. |

When you uninstall/reinstall then start for the first time, does it ask whether it can send crash reports? If so, can you select "no" and see what happens?

HI again Lee,
Everytime i start Second Life the first box i see is "Second Life has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinces this may casue you" i move that box and under is the box that asks if i would like to send the crash report. If i click "yes" it sends it, then when its finished sending the error report Second Life Log In screen comes up. However the First box i talked about remains. Now if i click on the remaing error box closing it, the game shuts down. If i click "no" choosing not to send the crash error report. The Second Life Log In screens comes up, but again i have that first box still on my screen. And again if i close the first box stating "second life has encountered a problem" my game shuts down. But as long as i leave that first box up not closing it i can get into the game. This is what has happens after EVERY reinstall and EVERY time i start up Second Life. Help ![]() |

I'm having the same problem. Except, I haven't even seen the log in screen yet. It just shows up with the Error message box.

Dowmein i thought the same thing after i updated to 1.10.1. But what i have noticed is that u have to neither say 'yes' or 'no' the crash logger once done with that give it about a minute and the Second Life Log on screen should come up. But dont close out the one box that says "second life has encountered a problem" if you do the game shuts down. Also the crash logger box will be hiding behind the box that says "second life has encountered a problem" so move that box out of the way. I hope that helps some and maybe u can at least get into the game. Thats how i have been getting into the game.

You mean click send, then a box will come up asking yes or no? Because the only yes or no I've seen is the "Start Second Life now?" box after you install it.

Well, if you've followed my steps, uninstalled Second Life completely, and downloaded it anew, then the crash report isn't getting filed under your screen name (because you erased your settings, thus, it doesn't know who you are). As such, I can't look it up to see what is going on.
You will likely need to email Support. They'll provide steps to locate the Second Life log file, which you can then submit to them. |
