Maybe Graphics Problems

Every time I play SL for about 30 minutes to an hour (in between there)...the screen stops and i Can't move the mouse,then the screen turns colors and the SL screen gets big and everything look like a rainbow and I cant play afte It does that...so I have to restart it every time it happens.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?
dOES ANYONE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM?

My first guess would be the graphics card. Intel’s on board graphics are just not up to the job. I would recommend installing a new graphics card. See system requirements and do a search in the Forum for graphic card suggestions.

There is your problem.. unsupported graphics chip.

In addition, there are memory leaks Memory:1015 MB gives you about 30+ minutes as some of that memory is shared for the GChip, I have 2gb and get about an hour or so before I start to get freezing...

But...before all this crashing occured....I could play just fine in a joyable fashion....What could have caused the graphics to malfunction?

Will I be able to ever use the intel card without worrying ever...like...will the default settings for SL be changed so that Intel will work ?

Could I be able to reconfigure any SL preferences so that I may play without problems ?

consider it good luck you could at one time play with the intel card, most ppl have recently upgraded their drivers (for the intel gfx) and are totally screwed, as in not able to even load


use the supported hardware and you will be golden forever

Many of the recent upgrades to the client have been based around the graphic pipelines, what allowed you to play the game before, is now showing its weakness.

By biggest gripe is that LL don't and haven't updated the minimum specs required to play this game. Perhaps they will troll through these posts and finally do so.

If you never used to crash using this computer, but all of a sudden have started crashing now after a very particular period of time, it's possible that a fan has failed inside your computer and the graphics chip (GPU) or CPU is overheating.

Can you peek inside and make sure the internal fan (or fans) are all spinning OK?

Where can Isee the fans at? and how can i tell they are running?

If you're using a PC, chances are you just need to remove a couple of philips screws to remove a panel on one side.

Then stick your finger in the little spinning things

I use Speed Fan to monitor my fan activity, depending on the board you have all your fan activity can be shown with software.

Speed fan also shows key temps onboard sensors and HD's and electrical stats It will also allow you to overclock your cpu chart your computer temps, shows HD data and performance
and its all free

i disagree, im running it on my garage computer, which altho slow at times, is quite playable

thats all the minimum requirements are IT WILL RUN it never states that it will be the best playing experiance ever

Have you tried reinstalling the graphics driver? I have seen corrupted Graphics Drivers change your resolution in game. Especially if you have been able to play before.

As you said yourself 'IT WILL RUN it never states that it will be the best playing experiance ever', I've heard you can play SL on a Dial-Up... but why? Broadband is cheaper than Dial-Up ever was... unless you can't get BB which is understandable. To be fair, a nVidia gts GC with 396mb is nothing to be sniffed at, and certainly isnt a intel MB welded Graphics Chip, which IS the subject of this topic.
