Is there a video card out there that consistently draws 40 or more FPS while in various scenes within Second Life?

If you get 40+ FPS, can you post your system's specs, and any configuration notes you have, such as the quality settings you've set (inside the game and in the display control panel), resolution?

AMD 64 2.4
1 GB of Memory
Visiontek ATI Radeon X1300 PCI-X (x16) w/ 512 MB

Get about 44 most of the time, except in crowded areas, or when the system is lagging. BE sure to check your preferences also. PLay around with them a bit. Also just because the card has 512 I have found that setting preferences to 512 is not necessarily better.

AMD 3500+
1 gig ram
Nvdia 6800 GS PCI-E 512 MB

No computer will give you constant 40+ fps. You just wont be as locked up in extremly crowded areas.

SL runs great when Im in my studio, have poser running and switching back and forth.

On a slightly different note can anyone recommend a good AGP card?

Either my monitor is going or my video board or both. I will be sad to see my GeForce FX 5950 Ultra/AGP/SSE2 fail as it has been a trouper and I do get 40+ FPS in most places.

I am running and Intel 3192 Mhz (hyperthreaded) with only 512 of ram (yeah I know I need more ram but so far this is working ).

AMD 2700+ XP Overclocked to 2.25 Ghz w/ Thermaltake Volcano 10CU+ cooler.
2 gigs DDR-500 RAM.
Shuttle AN35-400 Ultra nForce-2 MCP Mobo With FSB set to 440 Mhz.
ATI X850 Pro VIVO unlocked to X850 Platinum 256MB RAM AGP - Full 16 Pipelines instead of stock 12 and overclocked to Platinum specs. w/additional RAMsinks and GPU cooling. (80 mm fan strapped to it! Ugly hack)
Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Audio

Holds a constant 44+ FPS unless the server lags. :) This is with all memory and options tweaked out to the max running over 6mb/sec DSL. Unlike my Chevrolet, she runs steady as a rock - and just as cool.

When I need to build and need super speed and stability and multi-tasking - I hop over onto my Sun Micro Ultra-40 with AMD-64 dualies x2 (4 logical processors) and 4 gigs RAM with nVidia Quadro PCI-X video on dual heads. She gets alarmingly amazing framerates whilst doing other tasks - like puttering around with Poser in between moving and chatting on SL.
