OK i just joined like a quater of an hour ago. My avatar is yellow and greean and so is everyone else. Everyone else says i am wearing a white t-shirt and jeans but i can't tell. im just yellow.
Can any1 help?

Try defragging and clearing all caches including secondlifes. if all else fails ,uninstall reinstall.  |

Can any1 help? Turn off avatar vertex under prefrences in SL.

That is avatar vertex in prefereces (ctrl P), graphic detail tab, uncheck that and you will not be yellow/green anymore, as Striker said.
