Online friends dont appear online at all

Does anyone else have this issue? Log into SL and one of your friends is online. IM that friend and you get the offline reply. Also your friends dont show up as online and then you get a notification when they go offline.

Yes, I often log in and it appears that only 1-2 friends are online. Only those 1-2 friends are whispered in chat by SL. However, when I open the friends dialog, there are dozens. Dunno what's going on.

Changing your group membership to a different group will usually bump the server and cause the information to be somewhat more accurate. I think (hope?) this is a known bug.

I thought I didn't have any friends for about a week now.. hehe no really, YES I have this problem as well.

I've got a lot of work done because of it though. LOL

Today when I logged on I received a busy mode message from someone I've never even contacted or IMd !

My friends often appear offline when they're online and vice versa too.

Just another of what seems like 100s of bugs atm.

We've got a number of bugs related to "presence", meaning how we can tell you are online/offline correctly. Currently in-progress to be fixed, and I know firsthand about the frustration. One of the ones I loathe is getting IMs sent to my email box when I'm teleporting. Ick!

I have seen the problem with "only one or a few friends online when you first login". I usually relog, or wait awhile--because there's still Friends data that needs to be downloaded from the server! It's kind of like how the inventory needs to stream in so the info you have locally syncs with what's on the server.

This is probably all related, but often I am in the middle of an IM conversation with someone and then all of a sudden their responses start going to email and they say I now appear offline to them. At the same time other friends still see me as online. Reloggin usually works to fix it but not always.
