One hour ago I suddenly was not able to move or get chat or anything. I logged off normally. Since then every time I try to get back I am getting this message on my screen: "Unable to connect. Login packet never received by login server". I have never seen that one before. I've re-started computer and modem, tried the windlight client, etc and nothing is working. I went to the support page and read that message means I have a firewall blocking something. I have no idea what that is. All I know is everything was working an hour ago and now I can't get back.
Are logins down? There is nothing on the blog.

I had this same problem, every time i tried to log in i got this error. I finaly ended up changing my starting location to somewhere else and it allowed me on. Though i can not connect to the simulator i was in when i last loged out. The one i tried to log into, every time i do i get a very slow filling loading bar for "Connecting to region" then it just crashes, gives me a notice saying the region i was in crashed and i can continue to look at ims or quit. Im really agitated and am trying everything but nothing seems to work.

Glad its not just me! I've had this issue for the last 5 hours, since 11pm-ish EST. I cannot get to my last location nor my home.

I uninstalled/reinstalled SL. Cleared my cache. Called my broadband provider. Then I finally gave up.

I received 45 offline IMs this morning from an object owned by some w**ker that gleefully informed me that my region was under attack and would crash. If this was a grid-wide attack, then it may explain these type of log-in issues.
We'll just have to wait for LL to spot the attack and fix the damage!

I also tried everything Feisty did and still couldn't get past the handshake with region. I posted here and then submitted a ticket to support. I was very pleased to see a response posted to my ticket seven hours later. My ticket now has status "Solution Provided". Unfortunately, I was told to disable any firewall in spite of me telling LL that I have none. I was also asked to use a windows program called WinMTR while logged on so that LL can determine if the problem is with my connection, my ISP, or LL's network even though I said I am on a Mac on the ticket.
I was also asked to try lowering my bandwidth settings. I will try this.

The good news is that I was just now able to log on. Hopefully, this won't occur again. I will write this one off as a case of SL flakiness at least for as long as I can once again log on.
I messed with this for about three hours last night. It was a real eye opener to see how scared I was getting about not being able to get in-world. I hope that anyone else who was having the problem is also now able to use Second Life again.

I currently have the same issue and also replied to a thread that was made before this one with people with the same problem. I am currently on my 3rd reinstall this time deleting folders and we shall see what happens.

I also sent my log file to Torley Linden from what I have seen it is another step to try out the the dozens of others we have all tried.

Fixed today,

I uninstalled and deleted every folder and registry key i could find. restarted the PC and reinstalled and working fine.

Not 100% sure if that is what did it but its what I did and was able to log on.
