I'm wondering If AMD is a bad processor to have while playing second life... seems Like they have little or no support to really support my 6000+, my brother has a lower cpu and he doesn't have as many problems as myself.
Anyone else have a 6000+ with issues?
Also I'm using Windows Xp x64 bit, maybe I should go back to 32 bit since SL is a 32 bit application. I only went to 64 bit, because of having over 3 gigs of ram. -.- 32 bit doesn't support over 3 gigs of ram.
I'd appreciate it if someone would reply and not leave a comment saying Its because of the amount of people on the Sim or because most people I talk to doesn't have any issues at all.

I know a LOT of people using AMD processors on here, personally I use a 5000+ but I know people using the 6000+ without any issues. You didn't actually say what problems you were having so hard to comment, but I would say it's most likely the 64bit Windows that is the cause. I only know a couple of people who've tried sl on a 64bit operating system and they both had major issues. Hope that helps, ~JC~

Maybe you could tell us what problems you are seeing? oh sorry hehe quickly posted before I had to run to another service call umm well at times my system locks up for a few seconds out of nowhere.. or I get really bad fps issues and I hope a 8800gtx is fast enough for this game too.. hmm Anyone know where to get any diagnostics tools? I kinda wanna sort out my problem and fix it.. I'm a little tired of all the issues I get even If I have to switch to a damn Intel hopefully I don't.

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1690 ? I doubt very, very much that whatever you're seeing is an AMD/Intel thing.

I use a AMD 5400+ dual core on one of my systems, single core AMD 3ghz on 2 other systems and a Intel 3ghz on a forth. I get freezing issues with my client mainly on the Dual Core system, which I never got prior to the latest round of updates. When I freeze, I open task manager and see 2 versions of secondlife running, once the freeze stops, usually after 15-20 seconds, one version closes and everything is back to normal. I installed the AMD optimizer sometime ago, and it is still working. However I noticed in the last few updates to the Client, they 'improved' the Intel Dual Core recognition routines. Since that 'update' I have had these lock ups. It makes no difference by setting affinity and I have no background programmes running that would cause this to happen. I have to wonder, given the track record of LL, that this new 'routine' has 'fixed' something previously unbroken? SL is the only programme this happens to.

Depends where you are at too. Diagnostics Tools: CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+D brings up the Debug Menu (lots of fun stuff) CTRL+SHIFT+1 brings up a usful lil' window for viewing stuff like FPS, ping and packet loss, etc

I have a dual core 4400+ AMD and don't have this problem and I kinda doubt it's AMD CPU related. Things to try. Completely remove SL from your computer, including any cache folders. Download the latest viewer from the downloads page but don't install just yet. Reboot your computer and before you install SL, make sure nothing is running in the background like anti-virus, boinc, web browser, etc. This cures a lot of problems with SL. If it doesn't help, try this version of the viewer. http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/ Seems he might have found something in the new veiwer code.

I hope yor not having that much of a problem. the 6000+ is a wonderful high power durable CPU. Also do a check with your DDR make sure you have not burned out any of the chips on the board. Hope you can get things working soon Usagi
