forwarded for WarKirby Magojiro, because he can't access the forums.

From: someone

I need some help. I cannot access the second life forums. I need someone to go there and make a post on my behalf in the technical support forum.

Yesterday morning, I was in an empty sim, quietly working away on a hotel. When I suddenly receive a message.

"You have been logged out of Second Life. An administrator hasw logged you out"

And suddenly, I can't access my account. I get told I'm already logged in. No explanation from anyone. So I created an alt, and I logged in once more. And IMed myself.

Someone was using my account. Someone who is not me. After a few minutes of silence, they responded with "tp me". I sent a tp as asked, and then they went offline. I took the chance to log out, and back into my main account.

I logged in sucessfully, and things seemed fine for 5 minutes. No Missing L$. And then I got "Logged by an administrator" once more. NOw, both my main account and that alt are "disabled". I get told to visit the wbsite to renew my membership. The website returns an error and tells me to contact support.

It has been over a day, and they have not replied. I have had luck in the tech support forum, but I cannot log into the forums either. I kindly ask someone to go there and post this entire thing. I'll pay 1000 L$ for your troubles when/if I get my account back.

I have done nothing to warrant this. I am not a griefer. I have been herre for 7 months and I have a business to run.

Here's hoping someone can help.

to that i have to add, that i (not warkirby) got a "Notice of Disciplinary Action" 3 days ago, someone seems to have reported me at a time i wasn't there for sure (how could i, when my workday starts at 11:20pm SL time. when i came back home there was already that mail). i'm also pretty sure, that i never was in that region any day before may 8.

Linden Lab individually investigates the circumstances of every Abuse
Report we receive. Following a careful review of our server records and
logs, we have determined that your recent actions violated the Second Life
Community Standards or Terms of Service. The violation in question occurred
on May 8, 2007 in the region of Cassiar.

Violation: Community Standards: Disturbing the Peace, Scripted Objects

Every Resident has a right to live their Second Life. The
use of repetitive sounds, following or self-spawning items,
or other scripted objects that intentionally slow server
performance or inhibit other Resident's ability to enjoy
Second Life are examples of Disturbing the Peace.

The rules of conduct are interpreted with the broadest meaning possible.

Discipline

No additional action is being taken at this time.

Recourse

If you believe that this notice has been sent in error, or that the
details of this incident have not been adequately examined, please address
your concerns in an email to abuse-manager@lindenlab.com

We will not disclose the identity of Residents who file Abuse Reports.

Sincerely,

Linden Lab

i wrote a email to the abuse manager, and asked that someone checks the server logs again and tells me the name of the scripted objects, but i didn't get any answer either.

there seems to be another thread with users who got banned without a reason.
i cashed out all my money now, sl seems a bit untrustworthy at the moment.

maybe a linden account got hacked, or someone stole the database with usernames/passwords. weird tho that no money was missing from my account and there _was_ a lot on it. but untill i get a answer telling me what's going on, there won't be much money on it in future.

also maybe you should include server logs in that disciplinary notices, or at least be more specific... because the current format seems worthless to me.

The first thing I'd do is email the abuse manager and ask them to change your password to something random and email it to the address you registered the account with. If you think that somebody else is using your account, change the password (or get it changed if you can't do it yourself) asap. This would be a good time to make sure that your virus scanning stuff is up-to-date, too.

Also.. uh.. Server logs? Which log from which server? Better to just ask which object/script you were AR'ed against.

that server logs. i'm especially interested in the part that says i was there at 8th of may. and of course the object names would be useful. but i've already asked the abuse manager for that. no answer since may 8.
and i'm not banned, another user is banned.

The AR was against a scripted object - it didn't say he was there, just that an object owned by him was there.

Either way, I don't think they're going to dig through the 'server logs' or send them to him. He should ask for the name of the object that was AR'ed instead.

which in my case is even less likely than being there with my avatar. i have no objects that can cross simborders.

i don't know how they work there, but i doubt that they erase their evidence (logs) regarding abuse reports. should be easy to search for the report and the evidence that is stored with it.

I thought it was the other guy, not you..

I was just offering suggestions. Good luck to both of you.

Residents can't help you; only the Lindens can. We don't have any access to the info on your accounts but I am still glad you posted here because it serves as a warning that their may be some hacking of accounts going on and its time to change our passwords again. And keep an eye on our accounts.

All I can say is be persistent in following this up with the Lindens and eventually it will get sorted out.
