Just got message Grid is going down due to permissions, and 5 sec later got logged off, i was busy in a sanddbox, and nobody gave me time to save my project. Is that the thing to do.

Just unfortunate it has happened but what can you do, if the grid has to come down then they have their reasons, better now than later i suppose.

Permissions have been screwy for weeks and there was an update 3 days ago. So, if residents are pissed off that they're work is wasted because SL doesn't have the common courtesy to give them any time to save thier work they have every right to be. The way they treat the residents some days just amazes me. Hey, this problem has been here for WEEKS now but we don't have 2 more mins to warn you so you can save your builds. The 2 mins is imperative! We need you out in 2 seconds! Makes a lot of sense..

The scripting window stays open when you're logged out of SL, so just copy / paste your work to an external editor. In-world builds will still be there when you return, or you find them in your Lost & Found.

It sure appears that Linden Labs has hired their programming staff from Microsoft, complete with Microsoft's "attention to security", which of course, as we all know, is nada/none/bupkis! If this weren't bad enough, they seem to have been reading the BOFH series, where a ficticious system operator kicks those pesky lusers off of HIS system whenever he wants to.. These kinds of activities continues, LL is going to wake up one day and find all they have are freebie/basic residents.. and all the premium/tier-paying residents have either left, or downgraded to basic... Call me a cynic, but I see that happening in the not-too-distant future.. It's already happened to me.. I've been in SL since June '05, and love it dearly, but as soon as I can sell my 4096 s/m of land, I'm dumping tier and dropping back to basic.. Some friends and I envisioned building an entire sim on the idea of "Waterworld".. To that end, I've been working on a 3000 s/m underwater habitat/club which would be the centerpiece of this future sim.. With the way LL is going, this is likely not going to happen, and I for one will miss it dearly...

Well, read the blog. They're updating on the status of their fix ever 30 minutes or so. No ETA, true, but they are communicating.

I believe they snapped up the out-of-work programmers from Star Wars Galaxies, the Game That Commited Suicide By Not Listening to the Paying Customers.

I think they also got one from furcadia too. Furcadia was the game where you could not pay them to keep a place(dream) loaded.
That's right people wanted to pay, but they never let it happen.
