I've been running SL just fine for a couple days up until the grid went offline tonight. Ever since then, I try to open SL and the "Detecting Hardware" box comes up and then it crashes before it will even go to the login screen. I'm running and Intel P4 2.4GHz with a gig of ram and an ATI Radeon 9200 SE. I tried reinstalling SL with no luck. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I can't get past the detecting hardware box. It pretty much locks up the whole computer till i contl, alt delect to end task, even then it won't hardly respond. I have tried everything uninstalling, re downloading, checking all the firewall settings ,restarting computer all of it, i don't know what else to do. The only thing that i noticed is different is before when i downloaded sl or an update a mcafee alert came up to ask permission to allow access, now it isn't doing that instead a box comes up saying couldn't verify do you want to run program, i click yes and it instals sl real fast and then when i click start sl, I get that detecting hardware box and then nothing. please help thanks so much!
