Streaming Music Not Working

Hi, there.

Okay, I always have music enabled, and I have never had this issue before. I can't say for certainty that it's related to the most recent patch of 1.6, but I have had no SL music stream for over a week now. I can hear regular SL audio fine (gestures, sound files, etc.), but I get nothing from the SL music stream. I have been all over SL, so it's not restricted to a single parcel or URL, I have reinstalled SL, and still nothing. Anybody have any suggestions?

Assuming you already have the music streaming enabled in your SL preferences. That is kinda freaky. I am going to take a shot in the dark here but maybe a hardware/software firewall is preventing just your music from getting through? Just a crazy guess though.

I've noticed problems like that too, and also with streaming video. I have friends that can gear my audio stream fine, but when it comes to video, they don't see or hear a thing, even though they have it enabled.

Streaming video w/audio in SL is way way flaky, to make it work with audio/vid, usually what i do is go to the land the stream is, then relog SL, and then start the stream, veeery flaky. ~.~

For audio stream, get the url and try it winamp or equalent, many time you get "error 404 - server full" but in sl you wont get that at all cause it doesnt say anything about errrors in audio streams (/me want a way to start/stop audio streams + audio tag / errors in own box on SL's topbar)

Last night, I reinstalled SL (again) and it works now. I cannot figure out what changed between one reinstall and another (other than the helpful attempts by Lee Linden to try to fix the problem in world before suggesting another reinstall). For whatever reason, it's working now. This is the kind of stuff that keeps most of my family antagonistic towards computers - the ghost in the machine factor.
