since I updated to 1.11.3 yesterday, SL isn't rendering my avatar-skin & clothing at all, it's just plain black. when I try to edit my appearance, the thumbnails in the editor for skin, bodyparts etc. are all broken - see the screenshot below...

your help is greatly appreciated!!

thx thili, I just solved the problem: it was my dual-screen setup causing the problem - on windows, Second Life should run on the primary screen, not the secondary. crazy :) thx to kai sachertorte from live help!

This same thing has been happening to me. Usually my avatar is okay, but when I take off or wear certain clothes, parts of her turn black. Sometimes the whole thing is black with certain skins. I am running on multiple monitors (in Windows), but I have SL running on my primary monitor. I've tried both windowed and full screen mode.

Also toggled the setting that Thili suggested, but same results. I'm surprised I can't find more posts about this in the forums.

Mickey, what video card are you running? I'm using the nVidia 7900GTX. I did come across another post with a similar issue (except that everything was black, not just the avatar). In that case, he said he had just upgraded to the latest nVidia drivers when it happened.

Yeh i never got how to do this one, i run on several pc's 6800/7800 cards, multiple screens, never got this one >.<; dont know how to duplicate it.

Used both these driver version,
84.21
91.31

Try disabling multiple monitor run on one see if you get it then?, some wrote something about openGL works only on one screen on some cards awhile ago, something something.

( i can run 3 SL's in each of their screen on same pc without seeing this -.- )

Hmm, tried disabling all but one monitor and running the one in both normal and SLI modes. Same problem. I suspect this might not be a video issue. The reason I say that is because when I'm all black, everyone else that sees my avatar in game sees it as all black too.

Seen it on other characters now and then, you get textures from SL, and wear clothes, then you make a baked texture, wich is uploaded to SL, if that is corrupted any way they will see it to.

Used to see this alot before, corrupted pants, shirts, pants now and then, way to fix that was to adjust some lenght on something in appearance, then save, it would force a new baked texture, this doesnt always work tho.

I'm using an nVidia GeForce FX 5200, driver version seems to be 6.14.10

hm, think that's normal - when my avatar was just black, everyone else in game has seen me without textures. what's even more strange - even when I switched to my powerbook, the problem remained the same

Right. The problem seems to be linked to certain avatars rather than certain computers. One of my avatars started acting like this, but the other one was fine. I ended up deleting the first one because of it, but now this one started doing the same way. I've send a support request in. I'll post what they say.

Never heard back from Linden support on this one. I can only assume they just don't have a fix for it yet. I would be nice to hear back though. :|

Okay, still haven't heard back from Linden, but I did stumble upon a work-around. Selecting Debug > Character > Rebake Textures restores the textures. I just need to do that every time I change clothes.
