Is it possible to get SL to run at a screen resolution of 640x480 in full screen mode? Right now the lowest option on the configuration screen is 800x600. I can set the rez in windows to whatever and then run in windowed mode, but that is not the effect I am going for.

I'm afraid that's not possible. Even if it were, most of Second Life's windows are not designed for that resolution.

Why are you running in 640x480? Hopefully, it's not one of the following:

1) You're not using Windows XP or 2000.
2) Your video card isn't compatible.
3) Your monitor's too old.

If you have your resolution set that low intentionally for personal vision reasons, you may be able to run at a higher resolution and use larger icons/fonts.

I am using some specialized graphics hardware that can only go that high. Too bad - at the lower rez the game is iminently more playable (I don't have a great GPU.)

Actually, I'd like that resolution as well, being the highest my head mounted display supports without mouse panning.

It is possible to set your resolution to whatever you want, I have run SL in 320x200, but you have to edit the ini files by hand, and like Lee said, the 2D windowing system is not designed to scale properly, so it will be missing bits of windows. Heck, at 320x200 you cant even see the connect button on the login screen.
