We're still investigating some reports on this — anyone who thinks they're affected, please come to:
Take a free copy of both "Email Test - Source v4" and "Email - Reply v4" put them in the same region, then run the test. You'll see something like: [17:00] Email - Reply v4: My address is 8a394f87-4208-79f1-d2e2-b7c664b8abbc@lsl.secondlife.com [17:01] Email Test - Source v4: My address is 47571daf-b9bc-73da-1170-c291ce87c631@lsl.secondlife.com [17:01] Email Test - Source v4: sending mail to 8a394f87-4208-79f1-d2e2-b7c664b8abbc@lsl.secondlife.com [17:01] Email - Reply v4: Received email with Subject: 47571daf-b9bc-73da-1170-c291ce87c631 [17:01] Email - Reply v4: replying to email [17:01] Email Test - Source v4: Received email with Subject: reply [17:01] Email Test - Source v4: Test passed! [17:01] Email - Reply v4: My address is 8a394f87-4208-79f1-d2e2-b7c664b8abbc@lsl.secondlife.com if it works. And if it doesn't, the problem is likely with your vendor/other device's scripts — please paste the test output here and the region this happened in. We're collecting this info so we can figure this out, thanks for your help. _____________________

As I was curious I picked up the test and Tried it in both my Regions, and it passed in both:
Zebulon: CODE [17:32] Email - Reply v4: My address is df2edb8c-bac5-df00-4bdc-d3296425855e@lsl.secondlife.com Raleigh Island: CODE [17:35] Email - Reply v4: My address is 63fa9efb-676b-85e3-4c35-1d198ae6884d@lsl.secondlife.com However I have to wonder if this test is as valid as a test where both boxes were in different regions? Most vendors aren't in the same sim as the server. EDIT: Tried it with one box in one sim, and the other box in the other, still passed. |

The Source v4 is in Abramelin Studios, the email reply v4 is in Raglan Shire, the same set-up I have for all my vendor servers in-world, except the pet vendor server which I moved to Raglan Shire. Now the vendor in Raglan Shire works, but only that one since the vendor & the server are in the same sim. Oh, and the owner of the sim where my vendor servers are was kind enough to restart the region. No banana, everything is still borked. _____________________

Thanks for trying the test, I'll forward what we've got so far right now. I also saw this on the Issue Tracker: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-148
Also: try sending an llEmail to an outside email address (e.g., bob@hotmail.com) and see if it's received. This'll tell us if that region is properly sending outbound email. _____________________

I can tell you incoming email is being delayed. I replied to an offline IM at work, drove home, chatted with the person, and over an hour later they finally got my email reply.
![]() EDIT: just sent an email to my home email, was received in 15 seconds or less. replied to that message, still waiting for the box to react, after 5 minutes. |

Esmay isn't online right now, but here's the report from my JEVN server. (located in Succubus)
[18:06] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Checking network status..... [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 10 - Succubus(180, 145, 253) - off line - Number of items: 1 [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 8 - Succubus(188, 145, 253) - off line - Number of items: 1 [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 14 - Succubus(176, 145, 253) - off line - Number of items: 1 [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 9 - Succubus(184, 145, 253) - off line - Number of items: 1 [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 13 - Succubus(171, 145, 253) - off line - Number of items: 1 [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 11 - Succubus(167, 145, 253) - off line - Number of items: 1 [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 12 - Succubus(163, 145, 253) - off line - Number of items: 1 [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 1 - GT HQ(127, 166, 26) did not answer [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 2 - GT HQ(0, 7, 26) did not answer [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 3 - Disl(101, 86, 125) did not answer [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 4 - Isle of Fantasies(45, 41, 25) did not answer [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 5 - Desperation Isle(191, 212, 64) did not answer [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 6 - Broken Creek(97, 12, 46) did not answer [18:07] Eclectic Randomness whispers: Vendor 7 - Ratcatchers Hide(123, 223, 40) did not answer The upstream attempts to connect out-of-sim vendors have resulted in rather depressing dialog... here's an example (vendor in GT HQ attempting to log into server in Succubus): [18:14] JEVN - ER Vendor @ GT HQ whispers: Sending registration request [18:14] JEVN - ER Vendor @ GT HQ whispers: Waiting for server.... [18:14] JEVN - ER Vendor @ GT HQ whispers: Waiting for server.... [18:14] JEVN - ER Vendor @ GT HQ whispers: Waiting for server.... [18:15] JEVN - ER Vendor @ GT HQ whispers: No answer from server. giving up and here's a "successful" dialog from a vendor in Succubus (same sim as the server): [18:11] JEVN - ER World Clock HUD (Succubus) whispers: Sending registration request [18:11] JEVN - ER World Clock HUD (Succubus) whispers: Waiting for server.... [18:11] JEVN - ER World Clock HUD (Succubus) whispers: Registering... [18:11] JEVN - ER World Clock HUD (Succubus) whispers: 1 items [18:11] JEVN - ER World Clock HUD (Succubus) whispers: 15174 bytes free [18:11] JEVN - ER World Clock HUD (Succubus) whispers: Vendor on line Now, before anyone says it.. Reports have come in from JEVN and KDC users that this problem exists. So it's not "just" the creator of my system. These are big brand name vendors we're talking about here, not some rinkydink operation. APEZ users indicate that theirs are working, but I beleive that APEZ uses HTTP rather than email for much of it's communications. _____________________

ok, it's been 15 minutes and my reply from out of world has still not been received by the box. I tried buying something from my vendor in the Sim Concinna, i did not recieve it. I put a test box there, TPed back hom and pasted it's address into a reciever box here in Zebulon. The Test passed.
CODE [18:27] Email - Reply v4: My address is 88836b36-7a1a-ab1d-f1e3-89499d4a86e0@lsl.secondlife.com Could it be the issue has nothing to do with Email? or maybe it's intermittent? |

My findings so far:
Using the email object Torley made, llEmail works fine between sims. It also works fine in the sim that it's in. Already established objects (senders or recievers), do not work. It appears that the email does go out, but the Recieving object never receives it. Reseting of scripts in objects doesn't fix it. Perhaps the llGetNextEmail Function is broke? I am uncertain. Edit: From reading past posts, the server where my servers are, I cannot restart. |

I went, and relised my venders where not working, I redid my venders entirely and now for the past 8 hours I have been working to try to get them to work once again..Some work in other regions, some don't work at all...
I'm still having the same problem..I have gotten to the point where I am setting up freebie venders in hopes to bring back some sales o.O |

I wanted to add a few more details, After restarting the region with my servers (Class 5 Island), not only did they start processing backed up emails, but my SLB Box also started churning, as did my Custom llEmail Based Server (used for Grid wide control of a HUD). All seem to use llEmail, and all seemed to not be reciving email events until after region restart.

Rolling Restart
04-26-2007 20:05
A little more testing is surely in order.. but if it turns out that this problem CAN be fixed with a restart.. then LL should restart the whole grid. My server also is on a mainland sim. You're only hearing complaints from the people who are online all day, not at work, or at school, or asleep.
Continue testing.. but if it's a reboot-to-fix issue, let's get that done. I'd love to TRY and reboot Succubus and see if that fixes it (at least for the moment). _____________________

From another thread:
I've reset mysim to supposedly workaround this problem and it has not fixed it. _____________________

does that mean we should put up alternatives? like non-server venders?

From Da Blog:
UPDATE 9:25 PM] Charity and I found and fixed one cause of vending machines and llEmail failing. We’re aware there are still problems. The problem is usually with in-world objects that receive email. In general, sending llEmail is not affected and newly created/rezzed objects are not affected. In some cases, restarting the server of the affected region can address the problem. We’re still working on it. I’m sorry it’s still broken. FWIW, my vendors are now able to connect to the server. No region restart. I was able to do an uplink from each vendor, AND to go to the server, take the whole network down, and reconnect to all the vendors from the server. I can't say if everyone will have this result, or if this good-news will last, but at least for the moment, mine are back online. _____________________

I moved all my servers to the sim where my main shop is so I could get those vendors online, at least. A few hours later, all my vendors started working again. I have no guesses as to how or why, but I'm happy!
Now I'm off to clean up the mess I made when 2 servers were auto returned to my Lost & Found. ARRRGH. ![]() _____________________
