Ok, so everytime I load the viewer, i get the message "Your clothes are not finished downloading." And my avatar is invisible. Totally. And I can't force load him with appearance. Beacause it's greyed out. I have tried EVERYTHING. I tried setting the graphics lower, I tried turning the vertex shader off, no luck, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No luck. I have no idea what to do! Someone help me!

Try this:
- Open your Inventory, Library folder, Clothing folder and open an outfit folder.
- Go down the list of clothing items and body parts in that folder and right click on each and choose 'Wear'
- Log out of Second Life
- Log back into Second Life

Are you using dialup?
This is exactly what occurs when you log in on dialup (i tried as my adsl isn't working).

A very similar problem happened to my GF. Despite LL insisting over and over that her connection was the source of the problem, it was her graphics card. Once we got her a better one, everything was solved... sooo... if you're still having problems, I suggest you post the specs for your comp and what drivers you're using, etc.

I have had this happen to me.. but now it happens more than ever. I try the advice you give here, Kelly. But at the end, my face stays grey and my hair stays pale-ish, like if it were balding. Funny fact, since if I try the Appearance tool and in that "floating" state my face is perfectly visible. But when I exit the tool, it turns grey again.
I eventually relog and it's fine then... but lately it is bound to happen at some point or another. I just get tired of doing so, so I walk around with my grey face. Everyone else says it looks fine, but I really wish I could say the same.
I'm taking the time to work on a realistic avie face, but I'm not sure I'll be dedicating any more time if I eventually won't be able to enjoy it.

I saw this happen the other night in the 1.5.6 preview if that bears any relevance. Haven't seen it though in the current release.

This has only happened to me once - not counting that fateful experiment with dialup <shudder> - and it cleared itself up in about a minute.

Nothing helpful to add to the above posts (except post details of your hardware!), but I wanted to let y'all know you aren't totally alone...

I had another Avatar Weirdness happen last night. I was teleporting home from another sim and when I landed, I turned my AV to the right to walk in that direction. Only my AV's body did not turn, just the head turned and my AV's head was facing her back. I should have taken a photo - it was really spooky. Posessed by the 'Linda Blair' demon or something.

I had to completely log off and back on again to correct the problem.

My husband's AV was posessed by Ruth night before last and had to log off, back on and then still drag his old AV folder back onto his AV.

Though I did get a chuckle seeing him with boobs and red hair.

My point is... there does seem to be a lot more AV weirdness lately.

ok now it gets worse, all of sudden my ave is normal on one pc and now on my other pc its still not working - ive done everything the same on both pc's - also when im tryin to choose the body to wear it wont do it - keep clicking wear and it wont wear it - really wish i can get this fixed

What are the specs? (of both the comp that everything is working on as well as the one it's not working on)

What exactly is not working? Can you simply not switch clothes?

Is your av visible at all or does it just not look right?

Can you interact with/ see the world at all? or do you just see the sky?

Are you able to get into 'Appearance Mode'?

The more information you can provide the better chance you have at getting help resolving your problems...

What exactly is not working? Can you simply not switch clothes? my whole ave is messed up, try to wear anything clothes skins, body none will work

Is your av visible at all or does it just not look right? at first it wasnt visible now it is and it does not look like what i had

Can you interact with/ see the world at all? or do you just see the sky? i can interact

Are you able to get into 'Appearance Mode'? yes

ok scratch that now its not working on both pc's again, its not letting me wear my main body i had, i can change it to others but not my main. this is very frustrating
