Well theres nothin the lindens can do about it i don think, but comcast is having intermittent nationwide net 'hiccups' and one of those hiccups appears to be the total inability for any packet sent here to reach the SL server, i can ping the test login server just fine, but the main grid login isn able to be reached at all. Several other comcast customers have the same problem that i've talked to already.

Its not just SL either, major sites seem unreachable (such as cnn) etc... for now i guess theres not a whole lot we can do, just wanted to give people a heads up (and yes i did call them, and no i wouldn't bother doing it yerself unless you wanted a 70 minute long conversation on why they think its your 'internet explorer being broken an you should call microsoft'

Some people in World of Warcraft are having problems as well. The word from Blizzard was that Comcast in the New Jersey area were doing some kind of maintenance.

The problem i was having was specifically that the login server (toad.lindenlab.com) was completely unreachable (even though the preview login server, right next to it, frog.lindenlab.com, was reachable just fine). Totally cycling the entire home network, forcing a new ip address several times, eventually did let me contact the login server, and get in game, but now i can't reach the forum server from home *sigh*
