From experience and a great tip I got from a Linden I would suggest going to www.imagestore.us and look up nVidia FX 5200 - FX 7200 for graphics card deals.
I know for a fact that many stores that you goto mark item way up and you could save alot of time and money by ordering one online. hope that helps _____________________

CONFUSED PLEASE HELP ME ![]() OK, depending on your system and your budget... The MINIMAL graphics card you should spend money on is an Nvidia 5500 or 7300. That's minimal. If you want something a little better, go for an Nvidia 6600 (stay away from the GS and LE boards, which are cut-down versions. Go for the full-bore, even though it costs a bit more). If you want something that's worth looking at and you can afford about $250, I recommend the Nvidia 7600 OC (overclock). If you have $350 to $500 to spend, go for the Nvidia 7800 OC or the 7900 OC boards. (In truth, the 7600 OC is plenty strong enough, and even the 6600 is good enough for SL). Be sure you get the right TYPE of card: AGP vs PCIx. PCIx is the new motherboard layout and is much faster than AGP. But if your motherboard only supports AGP, two options: get a new motherboard, or an AGP card. If you're going to spend some real bucks on a graphic card.. I'd recommend getting a PCIx motherboard to go with it. ![]() I would recommend staying away from ATI. I've been in the computer business for (mumblety mumble) years and have had nothing but consistently bad installation, software and performance problems with ATI cards. I know there are some folks who will disagree and who praise how well their ATI card works for them... but I talk with techs all the time and their experiences are similar to mine. Nvidia is easier to install, installs more consistently and has less problems. If others have other thoughts though, I'd like to hear those myself. I'm always interested in additional info. ![]() _____________________

From what you said I suggest you take it to a computer guy/store such as compusa and tell them what your playing {SL} and have them suggest a card for you and your budget. Also let them install it. Tada all done

Tada all done ![]() That's one way to do it. But I've found that often salespeople sell what they have personal experience with... and they know nothing about Second Life. A better option I think, is like this: ask computer saavy people who use SL everyday what they've found to work well. Might even contact LL and ask them what they've found to work well. But for my money: pick your price range and buy the best Nvidia card you can buy for the bucks you have. Even LL will tell you that's a wise rule-of-thumb. ![]() _____________________
