Hello.
I currently have a 9200 Mobility Radeon. Since it is a mobility card (i'm on a laptop) I am having the HARDEST time finding an update that will work. When I get on to Second Life it is constantly telling me I should update my card so I would appriciate if anyone would be able to direct me to a place where I could download an update for my driver. Thanks!

Go here: ATI Onboard At that site you need to find your computer manufacturer and take it from there. Notebooks have custom drivers so you can't download them off the ATI website (although they MIGHT work if you could).

Did you download the proper drivers from your laptop manufacturers website?

I guess I couldn't have since that happened. Anyway I restarted my computer, got a black blank screen so I went into safety mode and switched everything back but alas it is still crashing when I open Second Life. Any suggestions?

For now you could rollback your driver to the previous one. You need to go into Device Manager (in XP: Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager button), expand the Display Adapters category and double-click your video card. Then on the Driver tab click Roll Back Driver. This will put it back to how it was before you updated. If you're on Windows XP you could do a system restore instead of rolling the driver back. What's the make/model of your laptop? I'll see if I can find a driver on their site. BTW, anyone else feel free to help. lol

Hehe, thanks for taking your time to help it's been quite frustating. My model number is PCG-V505DX and I have a Sony Vaio laptop. Yeah I tried rolling back the driver, doing the system restore everything. Still! I have no idea why it isn't working. I'd just be happy with the original crappy settings now LOL.

Wow, system restore AND roll back didn't work?? That's not cool. Here's the ORIGINAL driver for your video card: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=PCGV505DX&upd_id=1246&os_id=7They don't have any updates, which is weird.

Yup tried that and found that also. Restarted & it still crashes. As it goes i have now everything set back to its original settings and while it was working like this before, it now crashes when I open Second Life.. it crashes not only SL but the whole computer together. I'm getting very pissy you may see lol but thanks for trying to help, I dunno what i'm gonna have to do with this .

Try anything else that's 3d and see if it works, like another game. Also try re-installing Second Life. Everything is back to how it was so there's no reason SL shouldn't be working at least how it was.

probably have a mismash of ATI driver files on your HD now.
Use an ATI driver cleaner to remove all ATI drivers and then reinstall stock OE drivers.
