Like many others in this forum, I've very recently been experiencing increased packet loss and latency in SL, sometimes with very high ping rates on both user and server side. I'd like to be able to present my disbelieving ISP with something a bit more concrete than "It's running slow, please fix". They say that since I can play other games and browse the internet without the same problem then the cause lies clearly with SL, so is there any way I can run a trace route to establish the point at which the connection is breaking? How do I find out the IP address for example?
Many thanks

You can get the IP address to the region you are standing in from the help->about Second Life menu and use that to tracert to.

Try decreasing your bandwidth. High bandwidth can lead to more packet loss which can lead to more traffic which leads to lower throughput.
As for traceroute, there are command line commands for that.

Amazingly useful Rhyph Thanks for that, I've actually found the fault to be at my end! I should have hardwired my router earlier I know... but naturally it's never my fault so I didn't That'll teach me! Thanks again for tips guys
