PC Locking up in SL

Hello all. I have been having a major problem since the last update with my pc completely locking up in SL forcing me to manually reboot. I have unistalled and reinstalled SL, sent in numerous bug reports and crash logs tried all sorts of difference settings in game, all with no success. Sometimes it will be fine for hours, even all day long, other times it will freeze up my pc within 2 minutes of login. Also, it seems to be the case that if I teleport out of whatever region I was in when I crashed, it will stop for while. But if I stay in that region after a crash I will continue to crash again and again until I leave it.

I do not experience these crashes in any other games. My system specs are as follows:

AMD 64 3000
MSI K8N Neo mobo
Audigy 2ZS
X800XL
2 Gigs of ram
Antec 480W PS
Windows XP

All of my drivers are current (since the crashing began last week I have made sure of that). I have had crashes in SL before but never like this. Its made the game unbearable to try to deal with in this state. Todays patch does not seem to have helped either, logged in and crashed within a few minutes.

Sounds like the same problem i have, if your running an ATI card, try the Omegadrivers .. got me to stop crashing but limited compatibility but try toning down hardware acceleration in the dispaly advanced tab on your settings tab.

the setting it to a certain point gets me at least to your same 2min and system crash/lock prob.

This update has totally messed me up.

9 ot of 10 times trying to load SL just locks me up. I get to the login...get the progress bar..get up to connecting to region and it just stops...the progress bar continues to "throb" as though it wants to do something.but then it just doesnt do a thing. At this point..looking at my system processes ....SL is eating 98-99% of the cpu cycles...but nothing is happening...

This has not happened to me since I started SL. So something radical has changed with this update.

The few times since the update when I do get into SL...I crash most of the time.

I am assuming Lindens are noting this incompatibility issue and are working hard to figure out what new thing in this update is eating me alive.

My pc has been having intermittent lockups since the update before this. Before that never had it lock up now it does it several times a day. Usually when opening a profile or some other window such as edit and it freezes hard as in 30 seconds to a couple minutes. Though I am able to work outside SL.

Well sorry to hear of your problems but sinse the last update I have the same one. Every time I run SL my system completely freezes after a random amount of time.

Until the update, I have never locked up like this. Thanks LL!

As much as it sucks to say I am glad I am not completely alone in this at least. I spoke to a linden last night that said DB issues might be partially to blame for my problems and to watch the blog. But I havent seen this actual problem addressed anywhere yet so I am not certain how much it is even being looked at yet.

I am having the same problem. Ever since one of the last patches.

Random crashing 1 second - 5 minutes if I'm lucky.

Athlon FX-51 3200+
512 MB NVidia 6800GS (tried switching video cards, got same bug)
1024MB DDR RAM
80 gig hard drive
Windows XP

was also getting SmartHeap errors so I tried moving my page file to a drive with more space, haven't had that error again yet (knock on wood).

I can barely play Second Life anymore and I can't stay logged in long enough to build anything. Any help would be appreciated.
