Vanishing Items

Hey All,

I've heard of stuff vanishing from your land occasionally, but recently I've had lots of stuff just disappear... I wear my "tag" when I place things and, even if I didn't, shouldn't stuff just return to my lost & found? They completely vanish.

I'm a wits end... Can anyone give me any insight as to why this may be happening and how to stop it?

Luigi...if you haven't already done the usual of clearing cache and relogging...searching EVERY folder in your inventory for randomly placed items...then you need to do so.

There's nothing you can do about it apart from cross your fingers otherwise. I've had 2K worth of stuff go missing this week alone, both when I attempt to rez and between logins, folders emptying themselves in my inventory.

I have had items appear on my land months after I originally tried rezzing them...but I couldn't tell you why or how.

This is one of the reasons why SL is becoming a joke...but only one of them....

Gambling is banned eh Lindens?? So does that mean we no longer need to 'gamble' our belongings when we try and rez them?

I wonder if it could possibly be related somehow to the sim you're on. Do your neighbors have problems with vanishing items too?

I don't think the Lost & Found is very reliable. On my former home 512 m2, I had some items, since I never expected the land to sell at the price I had it set to (otherwise I would've picked up all my stuff). And, after the land was bought, I got some of my items returned to me, but not all, and the email I got about it had some funny error messages mixed in with the announcements of the number of items sent back to me:



Fortunately, I only lost cheap items and stuff I had made myself (which was thus replaceable). That happened on July 14th, and I still haven't gotten the items back (and I don't really expect to).

I've lost my baby, Joshua.... the same thing again said attempt to rezz item failed then it said cannot as item pending. Couldn't rezz my clothes and hair either so I relogged. I'm totally, totally gutted almost to the point of tears (sad I know). I don't know where he could have gone. I've cleared the cache and looked everywhere for him. I'm hoping that he might magically reappear. But looking at his empty cot and folder is breaking my heart ='( Anyone have any ideas what else I could do please, is there a chance he has been returned to his creator?

Some changes to filters were recently stealthed in.
I thought I'd lost some things as they didnt show up - reset all my filters and turned on "always show folders" and there they were.

I've experienced numerous "attempt to rez failed" this week personally and dozens more of my customers. I have been replacing items that fail to rez, fail to transfer and just completely disappear with no notice.

It is really quite ridiculous now.

And I just lost my collar. It was jam packed full of animations.

Tried to drop it to add a few more anims...

I cleared my cache, logged out, came back, and it is long gone.

Same thing just happened to me when I tried to add stuff to my male genitals
Hopefully it will be back soon as I just bought it a few days ago

Just lost 2 expensive items to the "failed to rez" bug. To say this is extremely frustrating would be a gross understatement. I'm going to take it as a sign I should log out and do something else for a week.

Is there any report of progress on this bug? If it is going to continue, perhaps there should be a form on secondlife.com where we can report our loss and the Lindens can hire someone to search the records and return our lost inventory.

How can the economy survive if you can't trust your inventory?

which is a sort of "umbrella" issue describing this whole set of related inventory loss issues.

Look them both up and be sure to vote for them. I have already voted for SVC-114 since I've lost items before from my inventory, just under slightly different circumstances.

poof bye another 5k L$ , think i lost about 120.000L$ so far in SL, what a joy it is, this is why i dont bother building much anymore, why bother since its apperant the inventory isnt worth jack -.o

Lost 100's of uploaded textures, get spammed with this every time i log in;

Well, I finally gave in...having cleared cache and relogged more times than I can honestly remember, I decided it was time to start anew. I returned all my items to myself, completely undoing weeks of building and landscaping work, with a view to going though my inventory piece by piece, logging what was still present and what was not, and backing up absolutely everything I could.

But, of course, SL had other, more vindictive plans for me.

Having returned all my items to Inventory, I was left with 'merged' items instead of the invdividual objects. Only one thing you can do with those, so I went to the safest, least laggiest piece of land I own where until now I have not had any items disappear on rezzing.

You can guess what comes next.

The first merged item never appeared, although of course it's nowhere to be found in my Inventory any more. I have no idea how many objects were combined into this one thing, and of course daren't try and rez the others to find out by the process of elimination.

I'm posting this as a warning - DON'T TRY AND REZ ANYTHING ANYWHERE THAT YOU CAN'T BEAR TO LOSE RIGHT NOW. I FOR ONE AM ABOUT 24 HOURS AWAY FROM SELLING UP AND CLOSING MY ACCOUNT, LEAVING MY JOB AND FRIENDS IN THE PROCESS, BECAUSE I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THIS INSTABILITY, AND THE LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY LL WILL TAKE FOR IT.

To my mind this is breach of contract and basically theft through malpractice, and I shall be taking the necessary action if customer support doesn't come through with some real HELP in the next 24 hours. That's all we want Lindens...security and peace of mind...and the knowledge that you guys, who we PAY for the priviledge of residing in SL...actually believe that you do have to give us something in return that actually WORKS as it says it does.
