Selecting object or Zooming Camera Crashes

I have been relatively lucky in previous updates and had no showstoppers, however this time my number appears to be up.

As the title says, when I click on an object, or attempt to zoom in on anything - I crash. Every time. I have bug reported it, for all the good that will do buried with the million other bug reports.

I wanted to share here, in case anyone else has come across this, and hopefully a solution.

When i get this, i lower object detail in preference (all of them to about half), and clear cache, usually help, but theres been some sims that i instant crash in no matter what, and no clue why, come back a few days later and i dont crash, go figure >.<
