Never had this problem before. I can't seem to login. It stalls at "Waiting for region handshake" then gives me the error message of "Unable to connect. Login packet never received by login server."
Checked with the people running the networks here and they say that all ports are open and that they aren't blocking any thing. Does SL use UDP packets or something that might be blocked even though the IT people are telling me even those aren't blocked?
This issue started occuring last night and sometimes even after clicking the OK button the client crashes. I've even unistalled SL, rebooted and reinstalled. Anyone else having problems logging on?

My linux box developed this problem, and it turned out to be a client-side firewall problem on my end. My firewall receives blocklist updates, and a recent update added a range of addresses used by SL. Has anything changed on your system?

I had this happen. To fix (hopefully), In prefs, make sure you have 'Show Start Location' checked, under general. Set the start location to home, or to another region. Then try logging in. Worked for me, hope it will for you!

That didn't work either hehe.
I think the place I'm trying to connect from is blocking some ports and their IT ppl don't know enough about them to actually care if I get my SL fix or not hehe.
Oh well, I won't have to worry about it after today.
