Hello everyone.

I've had SL installed on my computer for a few weeks, now. After several days of trying to log in, and having this problem consistantly, I decided to give up for a while.

This morning, I tried again, and was disappointed to find it was -still happening-.

I enter my SL name and password, and click "Connect" as normal. The progress bar shows that my name and password have been verified, but stops at "Verifying Protocol Versions," getting stuck there for a few seconds before giving me the following error (screenshot attached):

Unable to connect to Second Life.
The system may be down.
Please try again in a few minutes, or click Help
for advice and a link to the system status web page.

The buttons are "OK" and "Help".

Clicking Help does not load -any- website; when this first happend, I had to dig around the SL site myself trying to find the system status page. The page has always said that everything was fine.

I've tried the support Wiki, but I haven't had any luck finding a solution. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, would you please let me know what you had to do to fix it?

I appreciate the help, and I'm sorry if this problem was addressed in an older forum post. I wasn't able to find one if it has been.

That is usually a firewall, or port blocker, stopping the software from getting to the website.

So turn off, or check your firewall, or port blocker.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no luck. I've set up my router to allow SL's ports (I think), and all my software firewalls are either turned off (Windows firewall), or set to allow internet access to SL (Norton).

Any other suggestions? :(

EDIT: Nevermind! I disabled Internet Worm Protection, and things are working fine now. Hooray! :D
