I have been having problems, since the last update i think, with my computer crashing (specifically my video card) whenever i try to browse the web whenever i am running SL...My VPU crashes and i have to use the VPU recover to keep using my computer and then restart my computer if i want to use any 3d accel at all. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro and since at least 2 wks I have been having a horrible time in SL. Never had this before. Was wondering myself if I needed a new video card for SL.

Mine only has strange issues when it is overheating. Here in the house we run a 9600 pretty often and a X800 on our two main computers and both do their job without any fits.

Miche, I'm not sure if this has any bearing on your problem, but...

I found that ALT-ENTER resizing out of SL will crash periodically if I have the UI scale adjusted to anything much below 1.0. At around 0.75, if I have a script window open (editing a script) and ALT-Enter out of SL to check a website like LSLWiki, it's pretty much a guaranteed crash- either when I reduce the SL window or when I blow it back up to full screen.

The other thing I'd suggest is making sure you have up to date drivers for your ATI card. The latest Catalyst drivers are I believe version 6.10: I found the crash problems were reduced (but not eliminated) for me when I upgraded drivers several releases ago (around Catalyst v 6.7)

The previous post brings up a very good point, I run SL in a window all the time. I rarely if ever run in full-screen and don't have crashing issues today.

Simple technical question which is usually set from support hotline: do you have newest direct x and drivers installed? :)

I noticed same behaviour on my other pc with windows xp, ati x800xl and drivers older than catalyst 6.8.

i have the newest directx, and the newest drivers for my video card, and motherboard chipset. I run the game in a window and i notice too that if i minimize the window then bring it back up i'll crash...but that isn't what im doing. And actually the past few days i've just been remote desktopping thru my server and doing things that way with no problems at all....only when i use firefox on my compy and a couple other progs do i have problems....it's a very odd issue...but i know it's a vid card issue because of what the blue screen of death says and if i turn vpu recover on my vpu has to recover and i have to restart my compy.
