I am sure a lot of people like myself have a variety of water vehicles they have purchased for use in Second Life. I myself have several (.i.e., power boat, sail boat, driveable yacht, surf board, etc....Yet I can use none of them on linden waterways. Most work a few "feet" from shore but then you are blocked from going any further. However, I did purchase the Swimmer program which will let me swim in any Linden waterways, at least those places I have tried so far. Can anything be done to allow us to use are boats, jet ski's, etc on all Linden waterways.

I second that!!

I have a few water vehicles that I like to play around with. They're just lil' freebies you pick up here N there. But it's really tough to find a place to launch one just to try it out.

I dont I'm going to be buying large blocks of water/land anytime soon, so some big open water areas would be sweet! Maybe even a "water sandbox" for people interested in trying out watercraft they build??

BTW- if you see some dork with a big shark fin, swimming around in the water areas, that'd be me. :o

You guys mean that you wanna rez boats and schtuff in no-build waterways? Ifso, you may wanna write to Nova on SLLM and request some specific coordinates. I think it's okeydoke if they're set to rez, as long as they have low return times to keep the water clean... but she'd know best, so give it a go!

We bought extra land a week or so ago, it was "swampy" so we sunk it and made our own waterway for people to rez their boats. Plus it gave us room to put our ship the Cacafuego. SL definitely needs more spots.

If you need the co-ordinates IM me in game. We're infront of four void water sims and it's easy to get to the southern continent or the top of the northern one. :)

I think there are a couple things going on here. Some of the Linden protected water is script enabled. So if you can find a place near it to rez, you can head out into the void sim ad have fun. Vagabonds Yacht Club does this in Torch... we have a small bit of water where we can rez, and the rest of the area is protected Linden water. See Torch (232, 124, 84).

Another spot you can try is the Sanchon Sailing Center (the entire Sanchon sim). Again... Vagabonds Yacht Club does races there. However, in that region of the world, there is linden protected water in nearby sims that is NOT script enabled. So we notice that some of the function of our boats is lost when over no-script water.

I have been meaning to complain about the linden no-script sims in the korean continent... from what Torely says, perhaps Nova will fix that. For now, your best bets would be to buddy up with the yacht racing community, because we have been dealing with the problem for months. This is why I sunk my whole island...

Speaking of waterways, I wish LL would drop empty water sims around the rest of the continent (with suitable terraforming so you don't get any more horrors like the edge of Calbeck). They can suck them back and drop new land when they expand, but keep the void at sims-length.

My thanks to Torey for you comment and information, always helpful as usual.....
Pixeleen, thank you for the invite to the group and will join as I get home tonight after work. I will contact Nova on SLLM as soon as possible. We definitely need more water to play with our toys on.....LOL....

This sounds like good news for boats

Nova Linden replied to my request to turn scripting on in 20 of the Linden sims in the far southern continent. I won't get to check this until tonight but this sounds really good.

All water sims owned by the Governor are now set to Outside Scripts being checked! If you have any difficulty with boating here in the future, please contact support@secondlife.com as I won't be able to fix any further issues with the tools I have. .

I wish they'd just change the map so that there is no void... make the grid wrap-around so going off the eastern edge moves you to the westernmost sim and vice-versa. it could do the same N/S as well. I doubt we'll ever see this happen though.

That would be very strange, particularly on private islands.
