Hi all,

When I launched my SL client app, I can only get as far as the progress bar before I am told to "Download Update"

I duly comply, but when the update installation completed (downloaded ok, installed ok, prompts me if I want to Run SL), running SL still complains about a new update available.

I repeat this process of downloading then installing the update about 4-5 times. Each time same result. Keeps asking me to update.

I have tried rebooting. Same problem.
Disabled firewall. Same problem.
Ran SL directly from its EXE (rather than shortcut). Same problem.
I have uninstalled SL completely, rebooted then re-installed the full client installation - same result.

Please help.

Uninstall SL completely and download 1.6.8 from this page. That should let you install without any problems.

Fixed - but with a Issue for Linden Lab

The update has fixed it.

But it appears that the SL Client was detecting the newer version was required (1.6.8). But the updater was only able to download an older version (1.6.6(5)).

So it would be good if either the detected version could match the downloadable version at all times.

Thanks.

I ran into this problem yesterday too, but the downloads page listed 1.6.6.5 instead of 1.6.8, so even downloading it directly and installing didn't work. I eventually had to manually change the link to 1.6.8, which I knew was the actual most recent version.

I submitted a bug report once I got in-game... you should too. The more info they have on this, the better.
